Competing Alarms

Tuesday February 18
2 days old!

Today Miles & Jack continued to have episodes of bradycardia & oxygen levels dropping. Miles was having more than Jack. I tried to give Miles a bottle today & he stopped breathing during it which was pretty scary.  Apparently this is common for preemies, which the nurse told me afterwards. Would have been nice to be warned! Justin have Jack one too & he did fine. They decided to start Miles on IV caffeine. They were reluctant to start since then they need it for 5-7 days.  His blood counts today were back to normal at 15.  Throughout the day they continued to alarm off & on, competing for attention. They were both out back on oxygen yesterday, which isn't seeming to help much with the episodes. I was discharged from the hospital today. It was very weird to go home without babies, but I was happy to spend some time with Sam. It is convenient that we live 1/2 mile from the hospital so can easily get home.
