This morning when we headed to the NICU we're were happy to find that the boys had been taken off CPAP & were on room air. We had a great nurse Lucy who moved the boys into the same room so we could hold them for the first time. What an amazing experience! We still don't know how both boys fit inside me. Wow.
Weare so sad that our 3rd little monkey Sam will not be able to visit whole in the NICU due to cold & flu season.
We are identical! Miles is on the left, jack is on the right. Miles was naughty & pulled his feeding tube out numerous times today.
They were off oxygen for a bit, then began having episodes of decreased oxygen, so they were put back on a few liters. Miles blood count was low at birth, 9.7 (should be 15), and recheck this AM he
was at 9, so he got 2 blood transfusions. The doctors are not sure why his counts are low. Blood
cultures drawn at birth looking for infection have been negative. Growth throughout the pregnancy
was normal and there was no indication of bleeding.
Overnight, they both began having episodes of low heart rates (bradycardia) accompanied by low oxygen. It is short lived, but there have been episodes that they need sternal rubs to bring them
around. Miles was having more than Jack. Apparently this is common for newer babies, but not for babies born at almost 35 weeks. (They are Justin's kids though so I am not surprised by this :)
